Packaging can make the difference between a profitable grow operation. What if you grew 50 plants and sold it bulk. You’d be leaving money on the table. Don’t do it. Package your herb for retail consumption. Buy packaging that only costs a couple bucks and make a label. Promote your brand and approach local dispensaries with your packaged flowers. You’ll get more money per ounce period.
Plus you’ll have more bargaining power because you can supply any amount. You don’t want to sell your raw flowers and have someone tell you they can’t take it all. Packaged you can sell the dispensary an amount that they can handle and afford.
Also, make the dispensary pay you up front. Never give it to them on consignment. Something will always go wrong and you’ll lose money. They can say people returned it and they threw it out. It’s too complicated. If they buy 10 ounces for $40 an ounce get $400 and tell them you’ll come back with more.
The popular sizes of packaged flowers accepted by most retail dispensaries are:
- 3.5g
- 7g
- 28g
What sizes should you carry? We think all three.
What if they ask you for testing? Shop around. Find a different distro that will test your cannabis for you. Let them tell you what’s in it, how it should be improved, and what you need to do to get a deal with them. It’s better than paying for testing and sending when you may not have to. But if you have your own brand won’t you need to get a test? Yes. In that case, fork out the testing fee and keep your lab work up to date.
